ACT Test Site Closures for the June Exam
Last night, the ACT updated its official list of test site closures for the June 13th exam. The 57 page document lists 2,662 closed test centers and is sorted by state and then by city to help you find the ones closest to you. The update comes as countless students anxiously awaited this week’s scheduled announcement by the ACT to find out if their test center would be affected.
In a statement in the Tampa Bay Times, the ACT states,
“We recognize that many students, including seniors, are in need of test scores for scholarship and admissions decisions. This requires us to provide flexible options for testing…We’re committed to working with test centers that can safely open and are prepared to follow CDC guidelines to provide a safe opportunity for students to test.”
What to do if your test center has been closed
Students registered for the June ACT at testing sites which have been affected should receive emails with detailed information regarding next steps and options for rescheduling their exam. Although these postponements can undoubtedly be frustrating, they also provide additional time for preparation, and students can begin to look ahead towards the July, September, and October exams.
What to do if your test center has not been closed
Students whose testing centers have not been closed may still have questions or concerns about the exam. The ACT’s website has a dedicated page addressing ACT Testing Amid COVID-19, including outlines on student screening and social distancing guidelines at testing centers. Registered students and families with further concerns about attending an open testing center also have the option of rescheduling or requesting a refund. Acknowledging the stress that will likely accompany the unique circumstances surrounding the June exam, it’s safe to say that preparation should play a significant role over the next two weeks for students taking the exam. With so many things falling outside of the control of students, it’s imperative to focus on what they can control by reviewing content and strategy for the exam.
